Wannon Water – SharePoint 2013 Intranet

Work Undertaken

The objective of this project was to employ Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 technology to provide Wannon Water with an improved platform for collaboration, communication, knowledge sharing, and social networking.

Wannon Water previously utilised a SharePoint 2007 environment to host their Intranet Portal. The requirement of this project was to redesign the intranet portal and selectively migrate the content from SharePoint 2007 to a new SharePoint 2013 environment.

IBSA was engaged to design the system and solution architecture required for the deployment of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 within Wannon Water. The solution/system architecture was designed to meet Wannon Water’s defined initial rollout requirements and known future enhancements.

We designed a SharePoint 2013 platform that met Wannon Water’s needs for:

  • Functionality
  • Security
  • Availability
  • Performance
  • Scalability

Complexity

The SharePoint 2013 Intranet portal was designed to meet the following high level requirements:

  • Support topic-driven navigation across the portal.
  • Support role-based content targeting.
  • Eliminate the need to store a single document in multiple areas within the portal.
  • Streamline the document publish and approval process.
  • Optimise enterprise search capability to enhance the discoverability of business content.
  • Provide improved visibility for portal usage and performance statistics.
